The Others...MinneSNOWta

U.S. Bank Stadium was the place to be if you were in Minneapolis. Inside, Monster Energy Supercross offered their Triple Crown format for Round 14 of the series. Outside, snow....lots of snow!



Okay, so the talk of the week is Broc Tickle. He’s not a privateer, but he’s a buddy. Opinions are out there on this situation and I felt I should at least voice mine quickly. This isn’t about my friend “getting caught” or whatever you may call it, but this 4 year ban talk is bullshit. We watched it ruin the career of James Stewart, Cade Clason be pushed aside and a few more that are questionable. So yes, it’s in the rule book as a banned substance. 4 years? This is not the Olympics. I agree there needs to be rules and they need to be followed by all. There also needs to be a system put in place for our specific sport and the training our athletes subject themselves to. I leave you with a question. As our sport progresses and in a season where we have seen more than a few injuries, could “performance enhancing drugs” make for a safer sport? I’m not talking steroids or blood doping, but adderall or other recovery and focus aids. Anyways, #letbrocride

Day qualifying can send you straight to the three Main Event format. With no Heat Races, the LCQ is a true last ditch effort. Held before the night show, only four from each class get the final spots and three shots at earning some points. Illinois based and KCMX supporter Bubba Pauli rode his ass off in the 450 LCQ to take the final spot in the Mains. It’d be the first Main Event for the 282 this season on his TXS Productions/Skillz Racing Kawasaki.

I’m so up in the air on this format, as most privateers miss out on the nights gate drops, but it does offer up some great and mixed up racing. No rider won more than once all night. Consistency is key. 3-3-1  was good enough for Jeremy Martin to take the 250 class overall. Zach Osborne and Jordan Smith respectively rounded off the podium. Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner was your race one winner and it’d be downhill from there, ending the night with a broken collarbone and 10th overall. Eli Tomac’s 1-4-3 finishes secured the overall. Jason Anderson had some issues in race two and even with a last race win would settle for 2nd overall. Marvin Musquin took 3rd overall and completed a podium of guys with 1 win each on the night.

The 201 of Cedric Soubeyras has had a few weeks of chaos, but has seemed to find a home with the HEP Suzuki  Team. After some solid results early in the season, the French rider landed a fill in ride on the LVN100 Suzuki Team. Josh Hansen is the man behind that squad but has been M.I.A all season and when Matt Bisceglia got hurt, they needed a rider. Last week Cedric showed up to race, only to find out the rig had left the stadium. Dustin Pipes and the HEP crew stepped in to help the fellow Suzuki rider. This week Cedric would again ride under the HEP tent to a 16th overall with 16-16-14 Main scores.
