Nesterdomis...Erik Nester.

As most privateers struggle to obtain sponsorship, they often come across a company or person who is willing to take a chance.

My brother, Jarett Pesci is a privateer racer and about 6 years ago a company named Novik Gloves not only sponsored him, but went above and beyond. Bryan Oliphant from Novik would write an article for Vurb Moto and really push Jarett's name. He'd call or text just to make sure things were good.

You may or may not know that my 9 to 5 is working at an off-road parts and accessories shop in Michigan. The relationship gained through Jarett and Bryan led to our shop carrying their product and the introduction of me to the other half of Novik, Erik Nester. Erik would take our orders, pack, ship and keep us updated on the latest product. More importantly Erik would continue the relationship and gratitude originally shown to us by Bryan that is obviously instilled in the Novik Gloves brand.

The phone would ring and the caller ID would display "Access Limited." A sure tell that Erik was calling to not only sell the shop some gloves, but to ask how Jarett was doing and ask how my boys are. We'd talk the latest moto rumors and the weather. Erik was organized. We'd end our conversations with him telling me the next date and time that he'd call again.

As I write this I can hear in my head, the sound of Erik clearing his throat and saying something completely off topic.

I'm extremely saddened by the fact that Erik's voice is one that I'll never hear again. Erik was like family. He genuinely cared about his riders, his customers and the sport of motocross.

I will never forget the sunburn he got at RedBud in 2014 and all the stories we have shared. I will never forget Erik Nester. Erik suffered from cystic fibrosis and unfortunately lost his battle to the effects.

On a day that we celebrate Thanksgiving, I will for ever remember a man I am so thankful to have had a part of my life.

I'll miss you Erik.
