The Others...Hangtown.

Motocross is back! The Great Outdoors. As the weather warms, the sport ditches the stadiums and heads outside for 12 rounds of heart pounding, high speed, rough as shit, 2 moto format racing.

Racers will attempt to qualify for the main gate and become one of the top 40 fastest in their specific class. 36 from timed qualifying transfer strait to the main while the rest race a consolation moto for the final 4 spots. The main program consist of two, 30 minute motos, where the best average finish takes the win.

Round 1 kicked off this weekend in Sacramento, California at the Hangtown Classic. The track was rough, demanding, fast paced and pure motocross. There were big crashes and maybe some surprises in the finishes.

Did anyone think that Eli Tomac would be 3 seconds a lap faster than any other 450 rider? I honestly thought Jeremy Martin wouldn't beat Musquin or Webb.

The 250 class was won by Martin after a very dominant ride in moto 2. He will go in to round two tied with Musquin in points. Eli Tomac was perfect on the day as he set the fastest qualifying time and would go 1-1 in the motos.

This week I'll give a little extra shout out to Fredrik Noren. He'd go 10-10 for 9th overall after sitting out Supercross with an injury. Look for a blog with "Fast Freddy" very soon!

Next weekend the Nationals take over Glen Helen for Round 2. What will happen? Who will win?
